| Route Description: |
We begin at the "Mile 0 Marker" of the Trans-Canada Hwy (TCH) in Victoria, where we will dip the rear
wheel of our bikes into the Pacific Ocean (actually, the Juan de Fuca Strait). From Victoria, we head North
along Hwy 1 (TCH) to Departure Bay, Nanaimo, where we board a ferry to Horsehoe Bay. Once on the mainland,
using Hwys 1 (TCH) and 5, we follow the Fraser River, then the North Thompson River to its source at
Thompson Icefield in the Rocky Mountains. Turning East on Hwy 16 (TCH) we reach our highest lattitude of the
journey (53oN). We then follow Red Pass through Mt. Robson Provincial Park to reach the end of
our first province! |
